Classification : Financial Data Analyst
Compensation : $45.00 to $50.00 hourly
This is a contract position for 6 months. The Data Analyst, Data Management provides support in completing a variety of functions relating to new data and reporting initiatives.
As a resource for projects and data enhancements, the analyst is a key participant in the design, development, implementation and facilitation of data mapping, data sourcing workflows, systems integration and data quality enhancements.
Specific responsibilities / accountabilities include :
- Gather business requirements and create data specifications for project initiatives and business enhancements.
- Research, source and map new data in support of reporting requirements.
- Document data and process flows, and develop automation as relates to project initiatives.
- Develop test plans, create test cases and perform testing for data integration developments.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g. Investment Operations, Performance, and Investment teams) on project tasks and ad-hoc requests.
- Partner with IT to provide subject matter expertise in translating business requirements into technical specifications, solution design and data flows.
Job Requirements :
Post-secondary training in Business, Finance or Math or related experience (2 - 5 years) in the investment industry; additional professional training in financial markets (CFA, FRM, CIPM, etc.
and / or process improvement and business analysis (Lean, Six Sigma, CBAP) would be an asset.
Strong understanding of investment products across comprehensive set of asset classes : Equity, Fixed Income, Credit, Derivatives and Private Markets (e.
g. Real Estate, Infrastructure, Private Equity).
- Knowledge of performance measurement methodologies and practices, P& L attribution and analysis.
- Strong communication skills with ability to prioritize work and timelines, being able to communicate comfortably with both business and technical teams.
- Strong understanding of databases and data modelling, including understanding of interdependencies across database tables and attributes.
- Working knowledge of business analysis and testing frameworks.
- Superior comprehension and problem-solving skills, with end-to-end SDLC experience, from requirements gathering to user acceptance testing and release management.
- Detailed oriented individual with ability to prioritize work and timelines.
- Proficient with MS Suite, (Excel, Word, Power BI, Visio), as well as SQL, and VBA; experience with Eagle PACE, MyStateStreet, Dynamo and Bloomberg is desired.
