Job Description
Jewish Addiction Community Services (JACS) Toronto seeks to hire an experienced and qualified individual to oversee counselling for clients who are impacted by addiction and related mental health issues.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing holistic care to clients who seek support from JACS struggling with complex situations.
Responsibilities :
- Conduct ongoing one-on-one counseling sessions for clients identifying with addiction and mental health concerns
- Facilitate or co-facilitate weekly group counseling sessions, either virtually or in-person
- Attend weekly in-person clinical supervision with the clinical team and participate in weekly staff meetings
- Regularly assemble clinical data for reporting purposes
- Assist with outreach efforts as required
- Conduct consultation calls for clients who contact JACS for addictions & mental health concerns
We are seeking a dedicated professional with a robust background in mental health and addiction counselling to join our team.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a comprehensive skill set and experience to excel in providing exceptional care to our clients.
Key qualifications include :
- Three to five years of experience in the field of mental health and addiction counselling
- A Master of Social Work or Master of Counselling Psychology is required
- Extensive experience with treatment surrounding both substance misuse and process addictions
- Experience providing mental health care and support to men, with a thorough understanding of men’s issues related to mental health considered an asset
- Experience working with clients at all levels of the recovery continuum (ex. abstinence, harm reduction)
- Experience with virtual counselling, including individual and group therapy, via Zoom and / or Cliniko, is highly desirable
- Experience with intake management, ensuring timely and efficient intake of clients, including taking calls and conducting initial assessments considered a major asset
- Proficient in proper case note documentation
- Skilled in responding rapidly and effectively to crisis situations
- Knowledge of the Jewish community and its resources considered a significant asset
- Working knowledge of the Orthodox Jewish community considered an asset
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written
- Knowledge of, and experience with, Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with community-based treatment programs and resources specific to addiction is considered an asset
- Availability for weekday and evening work as required

This position offers a competitive salary of $70,000 to $90,000, commensurate with education and experience. Health benefits and paid time off may also be included.
The successful candidate will report to the Interim Clinical Director and will be expected to work regularly at JACS’ office.
