Salary Range : $53,500 - $66,900 based on a 35-hour work week. Salary for this position will be commensurate with the successful applicant’s education and / or experience as it relates to the position.

What You Will Do
The IT Support Specialist (ITSS) provides first line Help Desk technical support for desktop computers, telephones, peripherals, applications, and related technology.
The ITSS will answer users’ PC and software questions, assist with software training, and troubleshooting hardware and software applications.
The ITSS will provide IT department administration including invoice entry; and track maintenance contracts and fixed assets.
The ITSS will also be responsible for general user administration, security, assisting with notification of outages and system maintenance and supporting IT administrators with Active Directory, Office 365, Microsoft System Center, security software, VMware, Veeam, disaster recovery and maintaining wide area networks (WAN) and local area networks (LAN).
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to :
- Utilize and liaison with the existing Helpdesk to serve as the initial point of contact for troubleshooting IT related problems, including hardware / software, network services, and printer problems
- Assist in research, procurement, provisioning, and shipment of IT equipment including laptops / desktops, accessories, and other equipment
- Assist senior IT staff in routine server and network administration and daily operating procedures
- Assist with registering, tracking, and renewing equipment maintenance contracts
- Enter Invoices and other routine department administration
- Set up new users and administer user security
- Document issues and solutions in the Knowledge Base for user self-help
- Work with hardware and software vendors to initiate warranty claims and general support
- May require availability after normal business hours for specific system and network maintenance and on-call support
- Assist with support for Voicemail and telecom equipment
- Provide hardware and software training for end users
- Assist with delivery, set up, installation, troubleshooting and repair of PC hardware and software
- Assist with user notifications for system and network outages and maintenance
- Assist with and be available to travel to DUC offices and data centres across Canada to provide on-site support as required
Requirements
- 1 to 3 years of experience in an IT Support or Helpdesk role or a combination of IT helpdesk and customer service experience.
- Relevant diploma or university degree or an acceptable combination of education, training and or relevant experience.
- Bilingual in English and French
- Preference given for CompTIA A+ and / or Network+ certifications
- Familiarity or certified in Mac OS X, MS Windows 7 8.1, MS Server 2008 2012, Active Directory, SLES 11 Linux, CentOS, Asterisk, MS office products would be an asset
- Proficiency in remote administration and troubleshooting of desktop PCs
- Strong customer service, able to clearly and concisely communicate in a non-technical manner
