Welcome to the Department of Cyber Security and Digital Solutions (CSDS), the guiding force behind digital transformation within the Government of Nova Scotia.

Formerly known as the Nova Scotia Digital Service (NSDS) within the Department of Service Nova Scotia and Internal Services (SNSIS), we have evolved into a standalone department with a focused mission.

Your Role & Its Impact

As the Manager of Enterprise Risk, your primary accountabilities will include :

  • Strategic Risk Oversight : Continuously scan the risk horizon to equip senior leadership with actionable insights for informed decision-making.
  • Team Leadership & Facilitation : Collaborate with CSDS units to pinpoint, monitor, and manage top-tier risks, acting as the linchpin between risk and strategy.
  • Metrics Mastery : Keep a pulse on key risk indicators, setting the bar for how deviations are flagged and tracked, championing a proactive risk treatment.
  • Risk Assessment Expertise : Whether part of a delivery team or flying solo, you will conduct risk assessments that guide mitigation strategies.
  • Framework Fortification : Refine and sustain CSDS's risk management framework, making it a robust tool for organizational resilience.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration : Partner with external stakeholders to align risk management practices and manage shared risks, thereby creating a unified understanding of the risk landscape.
  • Educational Leadership : Craft compelling training materials that elevate risk management acumen across CSDS, fostering a culture of risk awareness from the ground up.

By fulfilling these roles, you will contribute to strengthening our risk management capabilities, helping the Government of Nova Scotia navigate the complexities of digital transformation more securely.

Who You Are & What You Bring to the Table

Required Qualifications :

  • Strategic Thinker : You possess the ability to see the bigger picture, facilitating the identification of risks and supporting the development of actionable plans that align with organizational goals.
  • Team Mobilizer : Your leadership skills inspire and guide teams towards achieving common objectives. You are adept at building a culture of risk awareness and preparedness.
  • Versatile Communicator : Whether presenting to senior leaders or briefing technical teams, your communication skills are clear, effective, and adaptable to your audience.
  • Educational Credentials : A university degree in a related field such as Computer Science, Engineering, or Business is valuable, but we also recognize and accept experience equivalencies.

Progressive experience in a related or valuable field is highly regarded.

Industry Expertise : You have a background in developing and implementing digital risk management policies, processes, and guidelines in complex organizational settings.

Experience in leading cross-functional teams through digital transformation is highly valued.

Leadership in Action : You have experience in leading project or product teams, particularly in a matrix organization, and have a good understanding of project, product, and change management tools and processes.

Assets

Familiarity with risk management standards and frameworks like ISO 27001, ISO 31000, COBIT 2019, and NIST Cybersecurity Framework is a plus.

Certifications : Certifications in Risk and Information Systems Control, COBIT 2019, or other risk management methodologies are considered a strong asset but not a requirement.

Salary Range : $3,238.10 - $4,452.43 Bi-Weekly
