Network & Systems Administrator

On behalf of our client in the Consulting Sector, PROCOM is looking for a Network & Systems Administrator.

Network & Systems Administrator – Job Description

Oversee all enterprise network infrastructure, including all WAN, LAN, wireless, Cloud, and data center networking

Maintains network and systems security controls, including encryption and authentication standards, access controls, anti-malware services, and updating critical services and equipment with recent and secure versions of software

Direct Microsoft and VMWare based virtualization infrastructure, including management of compute / storage / networking resources, high availability configurations such as fail-over, clustering, and server provisioning

Manage physical data center and Cloud resources, including servers, chassis, cabling, and network equipment

Maintains other critical infrastructure services, including active directory services, DNS, file services, and backups

Maintains corporate communications infrastructure for services such as email, telephony, and video conferencing

Maintains servers and associated hardware, applications, services, and settings

Implement and manage disaster recovery and back-up

Works with IT Support Specialists to ensure timely and proper resolution of service desk incidents / problems that require escalation, and provides technical expertise to other IT staff

Perform "DR" disaster recovery rehearsals

Create technical support documentation for systems and applications

Provides analysis and root cause resolution of network and system infrastructure problems and outages

Administer Active Directory and VPN

Administer Telephony system

Perform test restores from back ups

Coordinate with IT Help Desk for proper onboarding and offboarding of employee's access to WCP systems including user's Windows accounts, e-mail, and distribution list accuracy

Work with other staff on special projects to help assure success

Updates job knowledge by participating in ongoing educational opportunities

Provides on-call support for all areas of responsibility

Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Occasional requirement of weekend, on-call work

Network & Systems Administrator – Mandatory Skills

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Data Processing or equivalent work experience in a computer operations or computer networking position

5+ years' experience in network and system infrastructure administration in a medium-size business environment

Experience maintaining and troubleshooting virtualized infrastructure based on Hyper-V and VMWare

Experience with IP based phone systems & CCTV systems

Experience maintaining enterprise grade SAN and NAS (NFS / CIFS / ISCSI) storage technologies

Experience in administration of firewalls, load balancers, routers, switches, and network cabling

Experience configuring and supporting current versions of Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, SQL Server, and Exchange

Qualification or study towards qualification as MCSE, CISSP, CCNA, CCNP also a plus

Expertise and experience administering Office 365, Azure, Meraki / Cisco, Ubuntu / Linux, and Veeam backups

Expertise setting up and administering wireless networks

Proficiency with scripting languages

Demonstrated expertise of Cisco and Cisco Meraki Networking technologies

Demonstrated expertise of TCP / IP communications protocols and subnetting

Demonstrated knowledge of IP address nomenclature, protocols and routing

Demonstrated aptitude or certifications with Microsoft Windows 10 and Office 365

Effective verbal and written communications skills

Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization and work well within a team environment in support of company objectives

The ability to communicate technical information in an understandable manner to non-technical employees

Highest level of professionalism with the ability to maintain confidentiality

Strong analytical, questioning, organizational and problem-solving skills

Understands hardware and software system terminologies

Understands On-Prem and Cloud based technologies

Excellent understanding of computer hardware, including printers, scanners, smart phones, and other peripherals

Excellent knowledge of networking principles, virtualization, operating systems, and security

Hands-on technical troubleshooting capabilities

Familiarity with server management and monitoring tools

Ability to quickly learn new and rapidly changing technologies

Possess Project Management skills

Dependable and ability to work independently and be self-motivated

Ability to create and edit network drawings

Ability to manage and automate infrastructure via PowerShell or other languages

Familiar with remote assistance software

Network & Systems Administrator - Nice to Have Skills

Current infrastructure, network, or security certification preferred

Experience using or administering an IBM System-I (AS400) a plus
