Overview
We are looking for positive and energetic leaders to assist in leading and delivering our youth programming. You will assist coordinators in supporting staff to provide youth with creative opportunities to provide dynamic recreation opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Provides support to Youth Leaders and assist Youth Coordinators with the planning, organizing and implementation of programming.
- Acts as on-site contact to staff and ensures the delivery of safe, quality, and age appropriate programs in accordance with City guidelines.
- Provides support to Youth Leaders including feedback, addressing minor performance issues, and refers to supervisor as required.
- Ensures the safety and enjoyment of participants through communication, monitoring, and enforcement of program and facility rules, and addresses unsafe and unacceptable behavior; refers to supervisor as appropriate.
- Assists with the integration of volunteers, inclusion staff, and private inclusion support workers.
- Performs tasks to support program including program planning, budgeting, participant statistics and evaluations.
- Ensures participants follow all program rules.
- Implements positive behaviour management strategies.
- Takes action to deal with incidents, problems and emergencies and parent concerns according to policies and procedures; refers to supervisor as appropriate.
- Communicates with participants and parents regarding camp activities / programs and participants behaviour.
- Assists in gathering related information and statistics.
- Ensures safe use, condition, and storage of equipment. Reports any issues to supervisor immediately.
- Opens and closes program area. May be required to open and close facility.
- Ensures cleanliness of program area after use.
- Provides first aid as required.
- Acts as back-up to Youth Leaders as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education
Grade 12 diplomaExperience
3 months of related experience working or volunteering with youth in a group setting.Experience working with youth and planning programmingAdditional Requirements
Standard First Aid and CPR Level “C” CertificationValid G2 Drivers LicenseAccess to reliable transportationMust be 18 years old by start of employmentVulnerable sectors check issued following the date of offer of employmentKnowledge, Skills, And Abilities
