We are currently looking for a full-timeTechnical Writer / Instructional Designer to join our team in Richmond (Canada) or Brisbane (Australia).

This role involves working with Wenco’s Technical Writing and Learning teams. The role will primarily involve documenting technical features and functionality of Wenco’s software commencing with reference materials (guides, WebHelp etc.

then updating or creating new eLearning materials for those features / functionality.

Key Deliverables and Responsibilities :

The Technical Writer aspect of the role is responsible for crafting a range of documentation; from highly technical software documents intended for software engineers to clear and simple documents intended for end users.

They will collaborate with all key stakeholders and fellow Technical Writers in order to plan for and solicit feedback on a variety of documentation-related projects.

The Instructional Designer aspect of the role is responsible for designing and developing training and learning solutions in accordance with guidelines and processes.

They will collaborate with all key stakeholders and fellow documentation personnel to design, develop and publish learning and training solutions.

Working with a Product Manager, the Instructional Designer will assess training needs, develops programs and curricula, and designs and develops instructional material.

Experience and Knowledge :

  • Minimum of two to five years relevant experience, preferably including :
  • Demonstrated ability at developing software-related documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience developing certified training programs.
  • Demonstrated experience developing learning content utilizing authoring tools such as Articulate.
  • Experience with Madcap Flare.
  • Experience using source management tools.
  • Knowledge of document preparation standards (including software documentation standards) and delivery mechanisms online and WebHelp, PDFs, HTML).

Skills and Abilities :

  • Strong written and oral communication skills related to highly technical subjects.
  • Skills in Adobe and Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel.
  • Technical writing certificate or degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Excellent analytical and document design skills.
  • Strong organizational and coordinating abilities.
  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed, objective oriented with a high-level attention to detail and accuracy in execution of work and tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively under a tight deadline and in cooperation with an international group of contributors toward key deliverables.
  • Strong, demonstrated customer focus (internal and external).
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Nice to Have :

  • Knowledge of Agile process and principles.
  • Knowledge of mining processes or technology.
