JOB DESCRIPTION
Key Responsibilities :
- Site Supervision :
- Oversee daily operations on the construction site to ensure that work progresses according to the project schedule and specifications.
- Supervise construction workers, subcontractors, and other personnel to ensure high-quality work and safety standards.
- Assign and delegate tasks to workers based on the needs of the project.
- Safety Management :
- Enforce safety policies and procedures to minimize accidents and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and site inspections to monitor the safety of workers and ensure the site is hazard-free.
- Ensure workers are wearing the appropriate safety gear and following safety protocols.
- Quality Control :
- Inspect work performed by contractors and subcontractors to ensure that it meets quality standards, building codes, and project specifications.
- Address any issues or deficiencies in construction work and ensure they are rectified promptly.
- Coordination & Communication :
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for workers and contractors on-site, providing direction and resolving issues as they arise.
- Hold regular meetings with the project team to discuss progress, challenges, and adjustments to the construction plan.
- Resource Management :
- Ensure that materials, equipment, and labor are available as needed for the construction project.
- Track and manage inventory of materials on-site, ensuring proper storage and preventing damage or theft.
- Oversee the scheduling and deployment of workers, equipment, and machinery to optimize efficiency.
- Project Scheduling :
- Monitor project timelines and ensure that construction milestones are met in a timely manner.
- Identify and address potential delays or issues that may affect the project schedule.
- Update project managers and stakeholders on progress, delays, or any changes to the schedule.
- Documentation & Reporting :
- Maintain detailed records of daily activities, inspections, incidents, and any changes to the original plan.
- Provide regular progress reports to the project manager, including labor, material usage, and project milestones.
- Ensure all necessary permits and inspections are completed and documented in compliance with local regulations.
- Problem Solving & Issue Resolution :
- Quickly address and resolve any problems or delays on-site, such as equipment breakdowns, weather-related delays, or material shortages.
- Mediate conflicts between workers or subcontractors to maintain a productive and positive work environment.
- Compliance & Regulations :
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal construction regulations and safety laws.
- Coordinate with local authorities for required inspections, permits, and approvals as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications :
Proven experience as a construction supervisor or in a similar leadership role in the construction industry.Strong knowledge of construction processes, safety standards, and regulations (e.g., OSHA).Excellent leadership and communication skills to manage a diverse team of workers and subcontractors.Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and project specifications.Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.Excellent organizational and time-management skills.Preferred Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field.Certification in construction safety (e.g., OSHA 30-Hour) or relevant trade certifications.5+ years of experience in construction supervision or project management.Experience with large-scale or complex construction projects (e.g., commercial, industrial, infrastructure).Work Conditions :
Work is performed primarily on-site, with potential exposure to outdoor conditions and construction hazards.Must be available to work overtime, nights, or weekends as required to meet deadlines.Ability to lift and carry construction materials, tools, and equipment.Travel may be required for multiple site visits or meetings with clients, stakeholders, or contractors.REQUIREMENTS
