Equipment Operator

Reports To : Public Works Supervisor

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Public Works Supervisor or his designate, the employee in this position performs duties related to the operation of vehicles & equipment as required, in order to maintain First Nations infrastructures.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of vehicles & equipment, including but not limited to graders, backhoes, street cleaners, mowers and trucks.
• Check vehicles & equipment, and perform routine servicing tasks, including but not limited to : cleaning, lubricating, changing oil filters, changing tires, servicing or replacing batteries, refuelling equipment, and generally maintaining equipment to ensure safe, tidy and serviceable conditions, observing operating\preventative maintenance manual instructions or as directed by the Mechanic.
• Make minor repairs of vehicles & equipment under the direction of the Mechanic.
• Assist or perform the duties of Utility Maintenance Persons and Labourers as required.
• Keep vehicle & equipment records as required.
• Perform other related duties as required.
