Our client, a medium sized consulting engineering firm is searching for a Structural Engineer for their Small Buildings Division in their Kitchener office.
In this role, you will lead structural analysis and design efforts for a variety of building types, including single-family and multi-residential dwellings.
What You'll Be Doing :
- Leading structural analysis and design for small building projects.
- Working closely with engineers, trainees, and technologists to develop and review structural designs and drawing packages.
- Sealing your work and overseeing the work of designers under your direction.
- Conducting site investigations, structural evaluations, and construction reviews, and preparing field review reports.
- Preparing AutoCAD drawings from sketches, mark-ups, and design concepts, ensuring they meet company standards.
- Managing project tasks within assigned time and budget constraints.
- Staying updated with current techniques, codes, and standards to maintain and improve technical skills.
- Researching new systems, resources, and processes to increase efficiency, productivity, and profitability.
- Coordinating with other team members across various projects to meet project milestones.
- Accepting technical guidance from senior staff and collaborating in a team environment from the preliminary design stages through to project completion.
- Ensuring coordination of structural aspects with other discipline designs and drawings.
What You'll Need to Be Successful :
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering from an accredited Canadian University
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license with the Professional Engineers of Ontario.
- 4+ years of experience in structural engineering related to building design, with a focus on wood frame construction.
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Building Code (specifically Part 9).
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and the Microsoft Office 365 Suite; experience with Woodworks is an asset.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and coworkers.
- Strong understanding of construction materials and practices; construction work experience is an asset.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
- Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as in a collaborative team environment.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to learn.
