Health & Safety Manager
The Role
The Health & Safety Manager will play a key leadership role in developing, implementing, and overseeing the Health & Safety (H&S) program for a large, complex infrastructure project. This position ensures full compliance with applicable legislation while driving a strong safety culture across all levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety Leadership
- Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing management of the Health & Safety program
- Ensure compliance with provincial H&S legislation in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
- Develop, refine, and maintain H&S strategies to prevent workplace injuries and incidents
- Influence and support company-wide implementation of H&S initiatives and training programs
- Deliver and coordinate H&S training and communications for management and site personnel
Monitoring, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Provide regular reporting and performance analysis to senior managementElevate the overall level of excellence in Health & Safety performanceIdentify, assess, and anticipate safety risks through site inspections, audits, and incident investigationsCoordinate facility audits and establish audit standardsParticipate in daily site meetings to review and report field incidentsAnalyze safety incidents and construction environments to recommend improved construction methodsEmergency Preparedness
Organize and lead regular emergency response drillsEnsure rapid, effective response to emergency situationsProfile & Qualifications
Minimum 15 years of experience in the construction industry, preferably on large infrastructure projectsStrong knowledge of Ontario Occupational Health and Safety regulationsCOR Auditor certification preferredProven experience in tunneling or underground works, ideally with TBM operationsExperience working in high-risk environments (nuclear, offshore, or similar)Familiarity with safety management systems and incident reporting toolsExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement skillsStrong time management, attention to detail, and proactive problem-solving abilitiesFuze HR Solutions is committed to building a diverse, accessible, and equitable workforce.
