What is the opportunity? Global Functions Technology (GFT) is part of RBC’s Technology and Operations division. Technical Analysis, Design and ConsultingResponsible for solution design and architecture for credit risk reporting application. Responsible for Database Designing and providing DBA instructions with Database ER artefacts. Agile projects experience will be an asset.Partners with infrastructure and business teams in order to design solutions and resolve business system issues (i.e. workflow solutions, batch cycle troubleshooting, technical interface issues, software issues, etc.).Works closely with members of the development and QA teams to review requirements and implement solutions. Participates in meetings, provide input to presentations, and provides consulting services to business partners and BAs.Participates in walkthrough reviews of specifications and technical designs.Coding, Testing & DocumentationDeveloping micro-services, spark / hive data pull jobs, middle layer restful services. Conduct code reviews. Responsible for producing architecture artefacts for small to mid-sized applications. Coordinate and provide input to DBA in building database structures and tables. Contribute to unit test plans and provides coordination and support of testingWorks with Development Director, TSA’s, vendor and other IT teams to design and implement downstream and upstream interfaces to the application.Assists with implementation of vendor releases into multiple environments.Perform change management activities such as source code management, creating activity records for production implementation, creating implementation plans, etc.Strong analytical and technical skill set, including the ability to transform business logic into technical design. Working in Agile or iterative development methodology environment.Effectively communicates with project team members, stakeholders and other IT teams such as application development, middleware and infrastructure teams. Participates in small to large group meetings for technical design, decision-making, problem solving and task implementation. What do you need to succeed? Must-have

  • 9 + years of development experience with Java / J2EE application design and development.
  • Strong experience in web Service application development including RESTful.
  • Strong experience in building ETL pipelines
  • Strong Spark / Hive / Scala experience
  • Strong Front-end development / design skills ( like Angular / jQuery / vue.js / HTML5)
  • Strong Database application development and ETL work using (Hibernate / Spring), database design and advance DB performance-tuning skills on MySQL / SQL Server / Sybase / Oracle or similar databases.
  • Experience in Python programming
  • TDD / unit testing. ( jUnit / testing)
  • Unix / Linux, shell scripting, application configuration and deployment.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience and knowledge of JAVA design patterns.
  • Experience using Selenium for testing.
  • Experience with web Service application development including RESTful with experience.
  • Experience on working with version control systems like Git / SVN.
  • Experience with Cloud / blue mix be an asset.
  • Expert in both Real time application and batch processing applications development.
