Your Opportunity :
Reporting to the Manager of the Children's Day Treatment Program, the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Assistant provides day-to-day milieu support for children ages 8 -12 with complex mental health issues and associated developmental, cognitive and behavioural disorders.
Service is provided in the context of family-centred care and may include liaison and collaboration with relevant community agencies, including schools.
Responsibilities may include participation in case conferences, staff meetings, professional development and program evaluation as required, student education, and other related duties as required.
Appropriate documentation and statistical data collection is required.All scheduled hours of this position fall within the ten (10) month period of the school year in accordance with Letter of Understanding #27 of the Collective Agreement between AHS and HSAA.

The Psychosocial Rehab Assistant (PSRA) works with a multidisciplinary team assisting with therapeutic programming within an in-patient or day treatment Mental Health program.
Under the guidance of Registered Nurses and Family Counselors, the Psychosocial Rehab Assistant also supports the implementation of individual and group program plans for children and adolescents admitted to the mental health care unit.
Knowledge and understanding of child and adolescent development, and therapeutic interventions is essential to optimal patient care.
This specific PSRA opportunity involves offering therapeutic support to patients who may be holding in Emergency Department or who are placed 'off service' in medical units throughout the hospital.
Required Qualifications :
Completion of diploma in Social Work or Child and Youth Care or completion of Bachelor's Degree in Psychology .

Completion of Brain Story Certification preferred.Collaborative problem solving training preferred.
