Job Overview
Responsible for working with the business to develop the specifications for the packaging materials. The position will support the business on any capital and innovation projects as well as drive improvements for the business by optimizing the packaging structures based on customer and equipment needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide input to and contribute to the execution of the company’s long‑term plan (LTP) within the Product Development department.
- Lead packaging development policies and processes – including packaging materials optimization.
- Drive packaging sustainability goals.
- Identify potential materials to reduce EPR fees, increase recyclability and increase PCR content without jeopardizing quality or business continuity.
- Serve as subject‑matter expert for all packaging related technical topics (incl. UW) in cross‑departmental teams.
- Lead the development of all packaging formats and specifications.
- Ensure supplier quality and address supplier non‑conformance.
- Align developments with the packaging sustainability programs.
- Coach and develop personnel, including providing feedback and conducting formal evaluations, to ensure the right resource skills, competencies and expertise are available to meet departmental and company objectives.
- Manage and direct Junior Packaging Developer and Packaging Developer roles.
Recipe For Success (Qualifications)
Engineering degree and completion of college diploma in Packaging Development.5–10 years of previous experience in a packaging development role, including vendor relations.2–5 years of experience in people management.Previous experience implementing change management, developing quality practices, and coordinating collaborative initiatives in packaging, as well as developing sustainable packaging in the food industry.Technical applications relating to Packaging Engineering preferably in the bakery sector.What We Can Offer
