Title : Safety and Wellbeing (SWB) Supervisor

Employee Working Location : Remote (Montreal, QC)

Employment Status : Temporary part time - from 4 : 00 p.m. to 9 : 00 p.m. (3 Months)

Salary Band : $ 26.14 / hour

In this role, you will :

Responsibility 1 Support the implementation of activities to protect and improve the wellbeing of people we serve

  • Provide technical and practical support, as well as mentorship to SWB responders.
  • Provide guidance to SWB responders throughout planning and implementation of SWB services and activities.
  • Act as the SWB Lead for Field Operations Teams (FOT), when required.
  • Collaborate with the Site Manager and the SWB FOT Lead to implement SWB activities aligned with the needs of specific group, in accordance with the Service Plan and the Safe and Supportive Environments Guidelines.
  • Establish and implement protection mechanisms.
  • In coordination with Operations, assist in setting up, running, and closing SWB services or activities.
  • In coordination with Operations, organize outreach activities to engage impacted communities (e.g. information sessions, educational sessions and support groups).
  • Monitor any emerging needs within the impacted population, and advise Operations as applicable.
  • Ensure information about community supports and services is readily available to provide referrals to people we serve.
  • Complete the necessary documentation and follow CRC’s record-keeping processes and standards.
  • Participate in and contribute to internal briefings and debriefings as requested, on site or remotely.

Responsibility 2 Advocate for the people we serve

  • Advocate for the mental health, emotional wellbeing and safety of people we serve to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure that accountability processes are implemented; manage complaints and files that require action from SWB.
  • Assess and analyze gaps in services to inform the referral systems within the operation.
  • Continuously assess and monitor needs and activities, and communicate observations as required to the FOT SWB Lead, the Site Manager, and the Field Operations team.
  • Use available databases, such as EMIS, to conduct appropriate follow-ups with people we serve.
  • Help maintain an inclusive and safe workplace.

What we are looking for :

  • Significant CRC experience as a SWB responder in emergency operations or an equivalent experience.
  • A degree in health, social services, or another relevant discipline; two to four years of experience in customer service, community engagement, social services, or in another relevant discipline, a combination of education and experience may also be considered.
  • Psychological First Aid training is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in case work and case management is a significant asset.
  • Experience living or working in a cultural context other than their own is considered an asset.
  • Experience in team management is considered an asset.
  • Training in protection and violence prevention, or in psychosocial support in emergencies is considered an asset.

Working conditions :

  • This position is based in Montréal.
  • Most of the work will be performed in an office environment or remotely.
  • Travel within the province and across Canada may be part of the job duties.
  • Potential for responding in disaster areas, as well as difficult and unstable conditions (environmental, physical, social, etc.

and uncomfortable conditions (noise, odours, smoke, humidity, vulnerable populations).

  • A valid driver's licence if driving for CRC business (required).
  • May be required to lift up to 20 kg of relief supplies during preparedness activities and responses.
  • Ability to respond during non-traditional hours (e.g. late night or weekends) and work long hours in a demanding context.
  • Possibility of being on call according to the established schedule.
