Job Tittle : Manager, Software Engineering - C++

Location : Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Employment Type : Full-Time (FTE)

What You’ll Do

Lead and manage engineers across one or more squads, ensuring alignment with long‑term business and technology goals
Develop high‑performing teams by mentoring leaders, identifying high‑potential talent, and enabling clear career growth paths
Champion an inclusive, collaborative, and high‑trust engineering culture
Inspire teams with a clear technical vision through impactful communication and presentations
Provide steady leadership during ambiguity, change, or complex transitions

Technical Strategy & Architecture

Own and evolve a complex technology portfolio aligned with business mission

Define high‑level system architecture and approve design patterns for scalable, enterprise‑grade platforms

Lead major technical initiatives, including vendor selection and strategic investments

Partner with senior technical leaders on architectural decisions and critical problem–solving

Delivery & Operational Excellence

Serve as the engineering leader within the Product–Design–Engineering trio, ensuring technical feasibility and innovation

Communicate the business value of technology initiatives to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders

Lead initiatives from early prototyping to full production deployment and ongoing optimization

Ensure applications are highly available, performant, and scalable under heavy load

What You Bring

Experience & Education

5+ years of backend development experience

3+ years of people management experience

Degree, diploma, or equivalent experience in Computer Science or Engineering

Experience in digital financial services (strongly preferred)

Background in enterprise‑scale systems

Technical Expertise

Deep expertise in C++ with a focus on low‑latency, high‑performance systems

Experience with cloud‑native microservices , particularly on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and GKE

Strong understanding of data storage technologies (Cloud SQL, MongoDB, Redis, SQL Server)

Experience with event‑driven architectures (Kafka, Google Pub / Sub)

Proficiency in CI / CD pipelines and tools such as GitLab, Jira, and Confluence

Strong skills in performance tuning and system optimization
