Our Indigenous Relations (IR) team is looking to add an #EnergyProblemSolver in to support BC.

Projects :

We are seeking a collaborative engagement professional with excellent organizational and relationship building skills to support the Indigenous Relations team.

Reporting to the British Columbia Project Delivery Manager, External Relations, this individual demonstrates initiative to support and lead engagement activities with Indigenous groups and maintains effective working relationships so that we can deliver sustainable and responsible business results.

Engagement Support :

Support the IR Engagement Leads with administrative aspects of engagement with Indigenous groups including :

Coordinate meetings with Indigenous groups (scheduling in-person and virtual

meetings, workshops and events).

  • Prepare meeting materials such as agendas, information packages and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Record meeting minutes with an emphasis on tracking issues and concerns raised by Indigenous groups.
  • Utilize Dynamics 365 software to track and report on the status of issues and concerns raised by Indigenous groups.
  • Document and track commitments with Indigenous groups using High Gear
  • Collaborate with Engagement Leads to plan Company participation in community cultural events and activities.
  • Evaluate and respond to community investment requests from Indigenous groups.
  • Engage with Indigenous Elders, leaders and community members to build long-term positive relationships.
  • Support Project Agreement negotiations by providing administrative support,

coordinating logistics and acting as the relationship holder with the Indigenous group.

Internal Coordination :

  • Coordinate with internal teams, such Environment, Regulatory and Legal, to develop responses to information requests received from Indigenous groups.
  • Keep the team organized by updating internal task trackers and budgets.
  • Maintain and update contact lists with Indigenous representative’s emails and titles.
  • Research Indigenous-related policies, regulatory filings, Indigenous land use plans, etc. to support engagement planning.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Relevant post-secondary education is required, a university bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in Indigenous Relations, Environment,Archaeology, Anthropology, Law, Community Development, Project Management, Stakeholder Engagement, Land, or Government Relations.
  • Experience engaging with Indigenous groups and working with representatives and community members to resolve complex and often contentious issues.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience maybe considered

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Superior communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to effectively present to a variety of audiences.
  • Direct experience and in-depth knowledge of Indigenous Relations issues and concerns.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work in a dynamic and diverse team environment.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to a fluid travel schedule.
  • Strong business acumen within the energy industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong respectful relationships with a variety of groups, from the grassroots to senior levels, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to be a team player and work independently to achieve project-driven

deliverables in a continuously evolving context.

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and the ability to find creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Experienced in using CRM computer software such as Higher Gear and / or Dynamics 365.

This role is for a 1 year contract and hourly rate will be between $40.00 -$45.00 per hour
