2026 Inclusion Support for Summer Camps / Playgrounds

Reporting to the Program Supervisor – Inclusion, the Program Director – Inclusion, and / or the Community Recreation Coordinator, the Inclusion Support Staff are accountable for advocating, and providing individual support and adaptations for a child, youth, or young adult with special needs in a recreation program setting.

Job Description

• Develops and implements a daily / weekly action plan that will fully accommodate the support needs of your participant.
• Develops weekly professional and participant specific actionable goals.
• Assists in the development and implementation of adaptive programming for participants with special needs.
• Attends to the care needs (feeding, toileting, clothing changes, etc.) of participants with special needs.
• Ensures the safety and well‑being of participants during program hours.
• Dispenses and administers participant medication as required.
• Provides lifts and transfers for participants as required.
• Provides behaviour management.
• Takes appropriate action to deal with incidents / accidents and emergencies, as outlined in the departmental policies and procedures.
• Works cooperatively and maintains ongoing and effective communication with participants, parents, colleagues, and supervisors.
• Creates an environment that fosters a positive and inclusive program experience.
• Creates an environment where participants strive to participate fully, perform to the best of their ability, and learn new skills.
