Job Description
Our client is a manufacturer of food products and distributor of leading brands in North America. They are currently looking to hire for a Production Planner
Location : Richmond Hill (Leslie & th Ave)
Shift : Monday to Friday 8 : am to 5pm contract to permanent.
Salary Range : $K-$K
POSITION OVERVIEW
This position is responsible for creating a feasible production schedule, inventory management, and management of co-packers.
Co-packer management includes ensuring production targets are met, inventory management with regards to co-packer materials, and supervising the customer coordinator in scheduling shipment of co-packer finished goods and communicating with customers.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
- Create a feasible production plan within the detailed production scheduling period by shift that takes into consideration available capacity, labour and materials while respecting the product sequencing and optimizing the costs to produce.
- Review the detailed production schedule on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to ensure it continues to meet business priorities and requirements.
- Communicate and manage relationship with co-packers to ensure production plan and schedule is aligned with all key stakeholder requirements.
- Determine material, equipment, and labour requirements.
- Hold weekly production meetings to keep all production staff updated on changes within the department as well as provide reminders to ensure all staff are maintain best practices.
- Prepare status and performance reports and resolve production issues.
- Collaborate with warehouse, quality, procurement, and other departments as required.
- Manage competing deadlines based on project expectations.
- Organize, analyze, and visualize production data to drive decision-making and improve efficiency.
- Recommending viable solutions to resolve production issues, reduce production costs, and improve production processes.
- Oversee investigations and resolutions with regards to raw material and finished good inventory discrepancies.
- Any other duties as necessary and assigned by the Operations Director
Requirements
Education and Experience
- Legally permitted to work in Canada.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in food & beverage or pharmaceutical manufacturing
environment. Preference will be given to candidates with Tetra Pak beverage manufacturing experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in management studies, operation management, or related field.
- Firm understanding of manufacturing, inventory management, and distribution processes.
- Experience with production scheduling in FMCG manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of production and quality requirements and principles.
Skills and Characteristics
- Able to use Microsoft Excel to organize, analyze, and transform data as necessary.
- VBA and other programming / coding skills are an asset.
- Able to use PowerBI or similar software for data visualization.
- Familiar with ERP software.
- Takes initiative to ensure duties are completed.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Able to problem-solve and manage changing priorities.
- Highly effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional time-management and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of tasks and projects
