The Process Simulation Specialist plays a crucial role in the Digital Performance Solutions division, helping the industry thrive by understanding clients' objectives and providing simulation and optimization services.
This role involves working closely with technology providers, market experts, clients, and the team to enhance industrial processes, improve profitability, and reduce environmental impact.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
Project and Simulation Management :
- Manage daily tasks and projects, ensuring efficiency, organization, and alignment with project scope and schedule.
- Develop and execute simulation models for industrial sites using dynamic or steady-state software.
- Validate model accuracy with plant data and perform sensitivity analyses.
Technical Expertise and Optimization :
- Analyze and optimize industrial processes using specialized software tools, thermodynamic models, and mathematical equations.
- Interpret customer-provided data (e.g., Process Flow Diagrams, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams) to identify process and unit operations.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, propose optimizations, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Conduct feasibility studies, safety assessments, and technical sessions, including design and model reviews.
Knowledge Development and Sharing :
- Provide expertise and support to Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams.
- Develop a thorough understanding of client processes, internal methodologies, and client needs.
- Create custom programming and logic for project-specific calculations.
- Share knowledge with team members through training and mentoring, and support sales and marketing efforts.
Innovation and Collaboration :
- Collaborate with engineers, researchers, and vendors on developing new simulation tools and methodologies.
- Conduct benchmarks, case studies, and pilot evaluations of simulation technologies.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS TO BE SUCCESSFUL
- Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with Process Simulation and Modeling technologies
- Expertise in process engineering and flowsheet-based process simulation
- Familiarity with international standards for advanced process control and modeling
- Experience with simulation software like Aspen, Mimic, PetroSim, or others
- Communication skills, written and verbal, in French
- Written and verbal communication skills in English would be considered an asset
- Ability to travel to client sites (10-15% of the time)
- Understanding of regulatory control, including device control, PID loops, and state-based control
