We are currently seeking our next EHS Advisor who will be responsible for actively promoting a health, safety and environmental culture to all levels of employees with the policies and procedures of Aecon’s Health, Safety and Environmental Manual. This role is located within the GTA on a live onsite project.
What You'll Do Here :
- Training Lead- Facilitation of the following courses :
- Project health and safety orientation and onboarding.
- Site-specific safety training.
- Training supervisors and staff on Aecon Health, Safety and Environmental Manual.
- Training employees in traffic protection, traffic control person, WHMIS, respiratory protection, emergency response.
- Coordinate training such as WHMIS, First Aid, Propane, working at heights, Confined space, elevated work platform, etc.
- Conduct workplace inspections and audits.
- Conduct behavioral observation in the workplace.
- Update Material Safety Data Sheets as required.
- Develop workplace plans – such as emergency evacuations, fire emergency, traffic controls, fall protection.
- Distribution of safety material supplies and equipment.
- Participate as a management member of Joint Health and Safety Committees.
- Analyze and maintain records and certifications relating to worker training .
- Inspects project facilities and recommends corrective actions.
- Working with the Claims Administrator assists with workers compensation claims and associated activities.
- Develop return to work and modified work programs.
- Accident / Incident investigations.
- Mediate health and safety issues for resolution.
- Liaise with Government agencies.
- Prepare and assist with external safety audits.
- Gather and provide statistical information to estimating for tender packages.
What You Bring to the Team :
Minimum 3 years’ experience in the construction industry in a Health and Safety role.Strong knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations in OntarioStrong knowledge of WSIB.Strong knowledge of other Regulations, e.g. WHMIS, Asbestos in Construction, Designated Substances, Smoking in the Workplace.Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills.Ability to work accurately under pressure.Ability to work with limited supervision and to be proactive.Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.Ability to work with others as a team.Valid driver’s license.
