Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at Prince Rupert Regional Hospital.

Plans and provides direct nursing care to patients in accordance with the hospital policies and the BCCNM Standards for Nursing Practice in British Columbia.

Reports to the Emergency / Intensive Care Unit Patient Care Coordinator.

Shift Rotation / Hours of work : 07 : 00 to 19 : 00, 19 : 00 to 07 : 00 (rotating)

Prince Rupert Regional Hospital is a 24-bed facility that sees an average of 22,000 ER visits per year. It is a fully equipped facility with Medical Imaging, Laboratory, ICU, ER and Maternity. Services include :

Prince Rupert is a marine-based port city with one-of-a-kind wilderness exploration and wildlife viewing experiences on northwest BC’s Pacific Coast.

It’s also a popular stop on various Alaskan cruises. Located 721 km (447 miles) west of Prince George on Highway 16, Prince Rupert is the land, air, and water transportation hub of British Columbia’s North Coast, and home to 13,500 people.

Qualfications

  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
  • Post-graduate certification in Emergency Nursing or Critical Care Nursing or a minimum of one year's recent related experience in an Emergency or ICU setting or an equivalent combination of training and experience acceptable to the hospital.
  • Current certification in CPR - Basic Rescuer level required. Current ACLS certification preferred.
  • All Specially Trained Nursing Skills (STN) related to the unit of employment must be completed within six (6) months of employment.

Skills and Abilities :

  • Ability to determine and deal with emergency situations, patients and families.
  • Ability to provide work direction to nursing and non-professional nursing staff.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize assigned workload and set priorities.
  • Ability to work under stress and adapt to changing workloads.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts including co-workers, physicians, community agency representatives, patients and families.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and work independently.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
