About the work environment :
Peoples Group offers a flexible and hybrid work environment. In this role you will work a combination of in-office and remotely from home.
Typically, you'll be working regular business hours, Monday to Friday between 8 : 00am and 4 : 30pm with flexibility around start / end times.
We are hiring for this position out of our Toronto, Vancouver, and Calgary offices. Successful candidates who apply outside of these areas will be expected to relocate and reside in a location that is within a commutable distance.
About you :
You are a highly skilled and results-driven Risk Management professional with strong experience in implementing risk management policies, procedures, and training programs.
Proven track record in identifying and evaluating risks, implementing risk mitigation strategies, and improving stakeholder satisfaction.
Highly skilled in risk analysis, compliance monitoring & remediation and strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to achieve risk management objectives.

About the qualifications :
- 6-8 years of risk or compliance experience within the financial services industry within the first or 2nd line of defense.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as finance, business, or risk management. Master's degree preferred.
- Proven experience and highly skilled at analyzing, interpreting regulations and implementing general policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
- Proficiency in risk assessment techniques and tools, such as risk mapping and scenario analysis.
- Prior experience in reviewing processes, control testing, results analysis and report writing.
- Experience in developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in developing and delivering training.
- Previous supervisory or management experience of 1-5 years in a professional setting.
- Leadership skills with the ability to motivate and coach employees in a team environment.
- Strong knowledge of the risk and regulatory landscape within Financial Institutions.
- In-depth knowledge of either card, payments and or deposit products.
- Experience with reporting for auditors and regulators, including OSFI, CRA and CDIC.
About the day-to-day :
- Responsible to drive and execute an end-to-end strategy fostering risk awareness and risk culture in the First Line of Defense (1LOD) and be responsible to drive and execute an end-to-end strategy fostering risk awareness and risk culture in the First Line of Defense (1LOD).
- Works with the business to proactively identify and assess operational risks across the Business units using a range of risk assessment techniques and tools.
Collaborate with business units and departments to develop and implement risk treatment plans.
- Monitors changes to the business profile and inform 2nd LOD of changes to the risk profile.
- Identify areas of testing and develop an annual test plan for the 1ST LOD
- Work with the business owners when there are weaknesses identified through testing to ensure they develop appropriate action plans and implement them in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain business unit specific training to ensure all business owners can effectively carry out all risk management and compliance activities.
- Ensures business risk reporting is performed in a consistent and timely manner.
- Assist the Business with compliance related activities and remediation.
- Collaborate with the Compliance oversight partners and respond to queries, attestations etc. on behalf of Management.
Compensation :
Peoples Group is pleased to offer employees a competitive annual salary plus a discretionary profit share opportunity. In addition, we are pleased to offer employees both group benefits and the option to participate in our RRSP matching program, beginning the first day of employment.
Salary for this position will vary between $120,000 and $135,000 per year depending on the knowledge, skills, abilities and experience that the chosen candidate possesses.
