Tax Consultant

Position : Tax Accountant - Income Tax & ComplianceLocation : Downtown Toronto, ON Job Type : 6-month contract (start ASAP with possibility of extension)Structure : Hybrid, 2 days per week on-site (no fixed anchor days)Hours : 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, flexible hoursOur client is a municipally owned corporation seeking an experienced Tax Accountant for a hybrid contract opportunity in Toronto. The successful candidate will join a small, collaborative team responsible for income provisions, tax accounting, and tax return preparation, working closely with the finance department and other business units. This role is ideal for someone with strong income tax experience, advanced technical accounting skills, and a proactive, deadline-driven mindset.Key Responsibilities : - Prepare and review income tax provisions and corporate income tax returns.- Support monthly and quarterly tax accounting entries, reconciliations, and reports.- Collaborate with finance teams and other departments to research and apply appropriate tax criteria.- Assist with commodity tax (HST) reporting and related compliance activities.- Generate and analyze reports using Excel, SAP, and other ERP systems.- Ensure all deliverables are completed accurately and within deadlines.- Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team culture built on communication and accountability.Qualifications : - CPA designation (CPA Ontario preferred) or in final stages of completion.- 5+ years of corporate income tax and accounting experience.- Strong understanding of tax provisions, return preparation, and compliance.- Proficiency in Excel, SAP, and ERP reporting tools.This is an excellent opportunity to join a reputable organization known for its collaborative culture and exposure to unique accounting and compliance standards.
