Sinai Health is looking for a Clinical Coordinator to support our Mother Baby Program (High-Risk Antenatal, Postpartum, and Postnatal Ambulatory Clinic) in the Women’s & Infants’ Health program at our Mount Sinai Hospital Campus.
As a member of the nursing Leadership team, the Clinical Coordinator is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Women’s and Infants' Mother Baby Program and reports directly to the Patient Care Manager. As a key member of the nursing leadership team, the Clinical Coordinator will participate in and support the development and implementation of departmental goals and quality and safety programs; professional development initiatives, performance management and recruitment / selection process, and program development. In collaboration with the Patient Care Manager, she / he is responsible for staff scheduling, payroll submissions, and day-to-day operations and staff support.
About the Mother Baby Program
Our Mother Baby Program includes our High Risk Antenatal unit and our Mother Baby Unit. Our team provides care to postpartum patients and their stable neonates as well as postpartum patients with a baby in NICU.
In this role you will :
- Support and maintain the philosophy, goals, objectives and standards of the Department of Nursing
- Be responsible for the daily co-ordination of Unit activities, flow, safe assignments, ensuring break coverage etc.
- Support Team Leaders of each area with issues regarding patient flow, patient complaints, risk issues, supply and / or equipment needs
- Order required supplies and equipment as approved by the PCM
- Be responsible for Newborn Screening reporting and monitoring, develops plans to mitigate errors and keeps PCM up to date at all times
- Be responsible for Newborn Security System, troubleshooting issues and ensures that the Nurse Clinician coordinates education including planning mock abductions to test the system and processes. Ensures PCM is up to date on any issues
- Be responsible for scheduling of Nursing and Clerical support staff and for ensuring short-term and long-term staffing needs are addressed. Ensures PCM is up to date on any issues
- Be responsible for the maintenance and monitoring of information technology systems that support practice (e.g. clinical documentation and workload measurement systems, including those related to new or existing equipment). Ensures PCM is up to date on any issues
- Participate with Patient Care Manager and other members of the leadership team in professional development initiatives, performance management of staff nurses, recruitment and hiring and facilitates return to work plans
- Work collaboratively with members of the leadership team to ensure improvements in patient care through the application of standards of practice, research and evidence-based practice; promotes development of critical thinking and analytical skills Collaborates with the Patient Care Manager to achieve a balanced budget and to ensure fiscally responsible product management; works with staff and others in the implementation of new products and technologies
- Be responsible for equipment management and maintenance. Ensures environmental issues are addressed. Ensures PCM is up to date on any issues
- Participate in development, implementation and evaluation of quality and safety initiatives
- Collaborate with the Patient Care Manager, participates in Occupational Health and Safety Unit assessments and interventions, and in Quality and Risk Management as it relates to safety reporting and managing patient / family concerns
- Participate in Nursing Department and unit-based committees such as the Unit Council, Magnet and Accreditation
- Participate in process improvement activities for the units
- Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required
