Summary of the role

As a member of the Andritz Hydro Mechanical Design Team Turbine, located in Pointe-Claire, the selected candidate will be responsible for the mechanical design of new & refurbish Francis, Kaplan and propeller turbine units.

• Turbine engineer : Collaborate with hydraulic and mechanical design engineers, drafters and project teams to complete the turbine design to meet specification requirements while optimizing costs over the project cycle;
• Performs analytical design calculations (stresses and strains) and technical specifications, in accordance with internal design practices and industry requirements;
• Produce engineering instructions for manufacturing and installation;
• Tracks and updates engineering budgets and schedule with project teams;
• Organize and participate in design reviews;
• Review and seal technical documentation produced by himself / herself or under his / her supervision;
• Provide technical support for the manufacturing and installation of turbines or generators;
• Participate in the development and maintenance of tools and design practices;
• Participate in problem solving and root cause identification;
• Prepares technical bid documentation as required.
