About the Role and Job :

Position : Engineering Specialist - Wiring & EWIS

Location : Boisbriand, QC (Hybrid - 3 Days Office & 2 Days WFH)

Job Description

You will be working in the Electrical Systems Group as Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS) specialist. You will be responsible for the design, development, qualification, testing, certification and In-Service phases of the EWIS. You will initially be involved in the conceptual design and preliminary design phases of the EWIS system of an aircraft program.

Your roles and responsibilities will include :

  • Preparation of requirements documents including technical quotations, system schematics, technical requirement documents (TRD) and statement of work (SOW).
  • Review and negotiation of EWIS components supplier proposals, coordination and monitoring of suppliers during the development phases.
  • Ensuring that the system meets the applicable aircraft system certification requirements (FAR / CS / CAR, RTCA DO-160, ARPs, Advisory Circulars, etc.) and Client's Aviation requirements and practices.
  • Work with engineering groups to define wiring system architecture, connections, and routing.
  • Creation and maintenance of EWIS documentation, including wiring diagrams, routing plans, harness reports and harness drawings, as well as review of system definition drawings.
  • Provide the required EWIS expertise and support for the integration of all other aircraft systems (cabin and lighting systems, avionics, hydromechanical, pneumatics, propulsion, etc.).
  • Working with other functions & disciplines to provide required information and collect required data to allow the EWIS system design, development, integration & certification effort to progress.
  • Supporting other departments such as Production, Procurement, Logistics and Customer Support.
  • Support the development of the EWIS Safety Assessment analysis.
  • Support testing and aircraft integration efforts, troubleshoot and verify wiring harness builds and installations.
  • Support configuration and change management of the EWIS system.
  • Your duties will also include the participation in meetings and reviews with the certification authorities, the review and preparation of ground and flight test plans, qualification and certification plans and documents and also the support of the ground and flight test programs; witnessing of tests may be required.

As our ideal candidate :

  • You possess a Bachelor Degree in aerospace or electrical engineering, or similar; Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Must have at least 10 years of relevant experience with the specification, design, development, integration, test and certification of EWIS.
  • Experience in new aircraft development (asset).
  • You have a strong background in electrical systems, block diagrams and High Voltage and Battery Systems architecture.
  • You have experience with selection, qualification, and certification of EWIS in accordance with FAA Part 25 / CAR 525 / EASA CS-25 Subpart H – Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems.
  • You must be a team player showing initiative, have a strong sense of responsibility and possess good technical and commercial judgment.
  • You must have strong English (written and spoken) communication skills and French communication skills is an asset.
  • Must be capable of working under pressure, be attentive to details, have good planning skills and be fully committed to accomplishing work on time and on schedule.
  • Must have a good knowledge of ARP 4754 & 4761 and requirement management software tools.
  • You have a good knowledge of RTCA DO-160 and have experience in qualification testing.
  • You have knowledge of CAD tools used for electrical parts and harnesses installations, as well as for wiring diagram development.
  • Must be familiar with part FAR Part 25 / CAR 525 / EASA CS-25 certification process.
  • Must be computer literate, familiar with commonly used software (MS Office) and able to produce presentations and reports utilizing your strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Being a member, or eligible to become a member, of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec is an asset.
  • The pay range for this role is $80,000 - $110,000

  • per annum including any bonuses or variable pay.
