Reporting to the Manager, the BSW / MHC-B will be part of the Community Crisis Team and assigned to work as the BSW / MHC-B within the Wellness Recovery Centre.

Following the principles of the recovery model, this position will provide crisis intervention and therapeutic programming for individuals staying at the Wellness and Recovery Centre.

The incumbent will be working closely with the ATS teams who provide treatment, rehabilitation, and support services to clients in order to achieve their goals.

This position is targeted to work in the new Wellness and Recovery Centre, with the understanding that the BSW / MHC-B is a member of the Mental Health and Addiction Services and as such may be assigned to another program as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required : BSW :

BSW :

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and membership in the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW)

MHC-B :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or a related health or Social Service field
  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO)

Both :

  • Minimum two years’ experience working in a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience in Addiction Services, Crisis Intervention / emergency psychiatry and working with community agencies
  • Crisis, Risk, Mental Status, and Addiction assessment skills
  • Ability to communicate positively and professionally with family members, colleagues, community providers and physicians
  • Preferred experience working with Motivational Interviewing
  • Traveling may be required Possession of a valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License and personal vehicle, may have to transport clients on occasion (2 million liability insurance required)
  • Ability to work closely as a member of a team and share responsibilities
  • Knowledge of substance abuse, withdrawal and treatment strategies
  • Excellent organizational skills and scheduling abilities
  • Ability to co-ordinate multiple departmental interests to provide quality patient care
  • Ability to problem solve and make effective decisions during highly stressful and potentially violent emergency situations
  • Willingness to learn new concepts and integrate them into practice
  • Able to work all shifts, 24 / 7 (days, nights, evenings and weekends)
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record
