Director – Business Development, M&A Sourcing – Global Software & Technology
About the role
Reporting into senior investment leadership, this position focuses on shaping and executing the organization’s M&A deal sourcing strategy. The Director will lead a team dedicated to identifying, qualifying, and nurturing acquisition opportunities across global vertical‑market software sectors. The role combines hands‑on sourcing, relationship building, team development, and strategic planning.
What you’ll do
- Build, lead, and mentor a business development team focused on sourcing high‑quality M&A opportunities.
- Develop a long‑term sourcing strategy and roadmap to support sustained capital deployment.
- Establish and nurture relationships with software founders, CEOs, shareholders, PE/VC funds, investment bankers, and industry advisors.
- Plan and execute outbound campaigns through email, LinkedIn, calls, conferences, and in‑person meetings.
- Advance potential acquisitions through the sourcing pipeline and qualify them for the internal M&A team.
- Promote a culture of excellence, entrepreneurial thinking, and accountability across the BD function.
- Collaborate with senior leaders in M&A and Operations to support the inorganic growth strategy.
- Engage in daily activities including research, outreach, pipeline management, coaching team members, and attending industry events.
What you bring
- 5+ years of experience in M&A, private equity, venture capital, or investment banking, specifically in deal sourcing or execution.
- Demonstrated ability to hire, develop, and scale a high‑performing BD or sourcing team.
- Strong relationship‑building capabilities and natural curiosity about businesses and their operators.
- Excellent communication skills and comfort building rapport remotely and in person.
- Strong leadership qualities, strategic thinking, and the ability to motivate and guide a team.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, or a related field.
- High attention to detail, strong organization, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Self‑driven, entrepreneurial mindset with comfort working autonomously.
- Willingness to travel for meetings, conferences, and industry events.
