Job Profile
As a construction estimator at VCM, you will play a crucial role in our operations. You will be responsible for estimating take-offs, which involves quantifying all the materials, labor, and equipment needed to complete a construction project based on the project plans and specifications.
Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our projects.
What You Will Do :
- Determine project scope of work and complete project estimates using designated estimating software.
- Break down bid documents to delineate the full scope of work for VCM, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Collaborate with the estimating team and operational staff to develop thorough estimates.
- Analyze design criteria and identify and develop constructability requirements.
Qualifications / Experience :
- 10+ years of construction-related experience, including field and estimating roles that will include commercial, municipal, and / or large projects such as educational institutions.
- Technical degree / diploma / certificate in construction is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and estimating software is an asset.
- Advanced knowledge of cost estimating, engineering, design, construction practices, and procurement.
- Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, structural, and civil estimating disciplines.
- Familiarity with current trade definitions, building codes, permitting, and inspections.
