The Design manager Skates autonomously leads the design team to develop skates that will allow CCM to WIN the category.

This person effectively leads the design team to deliver our consumers industry-leading products and is a staple participant in the product development triad (with R&D and Product Management)

Also needs to collaborate closely with other internal functions (Advanced concept, industrialization, testing) and external (manufacturers, material suppliers) to deliver intended product lines that will surpass consumer expectations but also on spec, on quality, on time and on budget.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Determine and follow up specific objectives for each new product in close interaction with developers and product managers
• Leads design language creation for skates & develop CCM Hockey DNA. Constantly challenges the status-quo
• Manage the design team by aligning responsibilities, clear communication, personal development and promote a positive work environment
• Ideate new concepts and build models and prototypes with the help of technicians, from first drafts to production samples
• Owner of technical packs assets needed to communicate construction information to suppliers
• Investigate new raw materials, finished goods and prices from suppliers.
• Acts as a watchtower on design trends in hockey and peripheral industries
• Determine quality criteria of new products in collaboration with the quality control department.
• Any other related task

REQUIREMENTS

• Design Degree with at least 5 years’ experience in similar function
• Ability to prepare and interpret 2D and 3D technical drawings, hand drawings and graphic designs.
• In-depth knowledge of the following software : CAD design, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and well as MS Office suite
• Bilingual (French and Englis) a definite asset - oral and written
• Ability to effectively communicate and positively influence both internal and external stakeholders
• Great team player
• Fosters a positive culture for the design team by setting clear responsibilities, development plan and retroaction.
• Strong planning skills and sense of ownership
• Thinks beyond his / her own area of expertise, challenge the status quo and think outside the box
• Available to travel in Asia
