In the Proposal Manager position, you will provide leadership or support on a variety of business development assignments, ranging from highly strategic proposals to smaller proposals and qualification statements. All members of our Canadian Geographic Sales Operations (GSO) team are successful self‑starters, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, create creative solutions to tackle challenges and team players ready to support each other with vested interest in the success of Jacobs.
Key Responsibilities In This Role
- Independently lead the End Game coordination and preparation of proposals of all sizes, working directly with technical staff; may support large, strategic opportunities, working under the guidance of senior Sales staff.
- Lead and / or support planning and development of small to mid‑sized presentations and interviews.
- With no supervision, coordinate, write, edit / tailor, and perform research for non‑technical proposal sections; ensure compliance; proactively identify, communicate, and mitigate potential issues / variances.
- Lead kick‑off meetings and other milestone meetings, as appropriate.
- Participate in opportunity planning / Middle Game activities as needed.
- Develop knowledge of transportation market and suggest teaming partners / subconsultants, as well as qualified Jacobs staff during kickoff / strategy sessions and organization chart development.
- Increase understanding and apply business objectives, priorities, and sales strategy, especially as they relate to the End Game proposal process.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on, advocate for, and actively apply Sales Operations procedures, policies, protocols, and best practices, including standard file management and archiving procedures, as well as Branding Guidelines.
- Employ and populate / update (as appropriate) business development‑related tools and databases.
- Foster strong, mutually beneficial working relationships with Operations, other Sales Operations staff, Selling Units, and Sales Enablement teams both locally and across the network.
- Coordinate / provide direction to graphic designers, document publishers, writers / editors, reprographics specialists, and other support staff, independently coordinate with and collect information from teaming partners and subconsultants.
- Manage self and proposal team, monitoring progress and adherence to proposal schedule.
- Solve issues independently; identify and implement creative solutions to challenges; elevate to leadership as necessary.
- Successfully guide, influence, and convince others with advanced communication and negotiation skills.
- Lead a variety of business development assignments, ranging from proposals to qualification statements, as well as large, strategic, complex efforts.
- Support development of opportunity planning / Middle Game deliverables.
- Participate in debrief meetings on completed proposals and apply lessons learned to future efforts.
- Seek opportunities to enhance company image / brand on proposals and presentations.
Here’s what you’ll need
At least six (6) years of experience in proposal management / coordination, ideally in the Architectural, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry and with demonstrated experience in the transportation market.BS / BA / Degree or equivalent.Understanding in basic company risk evaluation processes.Understanding in proposal time commitments and time management.The base salary range for this position is $95,000.00 to $105,000.00. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across Ontario, Canada locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
