Position Summary :
The Server will provide a selection of high-quality food and beverages to guests onboard. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable about all food offerings, cruise schedule and skyline attractions. The server will facilitate an amazing experience for their guests, be favorably viewed by supervisors and peers, and be swift and efficient in the execution of their assigned duties.
Please note this is a seasonal / contract position.

Duties and Responsibilities :
Provide amazing hospitality to guests and coworkers as prescribed in our RESPECT Service SystemProvide warm and friendly greeting of table within two minutes of guests getting settledAccurately take orders and enter them into the point-of-sale systemProvide guests with water, coffee / tea, and bread service throughout the mealServe food and beverages in a timely mannerAssist the Event Crew on delivering plated food orders when requiredAssist the Event Crew when setting up the buffet stationFollows steps of serviceLiaises with kitchen, manager, asst. manager to resolve service and food issues, substitutions, or difficult guestAssumes responsibility for assigned areas and assists team members with their assigned areas whenever necessaryCommunicate with other team membersMaintain the cleanliness and safety of all common areas and service stationsContinuously set up tables with cutlery, glasses, napkins, and necessary condimentsParticipate in the celebration and entertainment experience of the guestSell and upsell food and beverage products to maximize revenueSet up and break down dining room / event room and service stations as prescribed; this requires movement of dining cabin furnitureClean the dining room areas in between events, including vacuuming, sweeping and moppingLight housekeeping (dust and wipe ceiling, mirrors, windows and ledges and railings)Accurately collect payment from guests for on-board purchasesAssist post-cruise clean-up including but not limited to changing garbage bags and take them out, polish cutlery and china, cleaning and sanitizing washrooms, resetting tables with requested set-up, etc.Provide information to guests including menu descriptions, order of service, entertainment options, cruise route and points of interestExecutes all opening and closing activities which include stocking, replenishing, wiping, sweeping and other duties as required to maintain an appealing, hygienic, healthy and safe environment for staff and guests in their designated work areas. Including the completion of all daily & weekly checklistsCounts money in cash drawers at the beginning of shift (sorts, counts currency and coins) to ensure that amounts are correct and that change amounts are adequateResponsible for all sales transactions from selling food and beverage items to cash reconciling in an accurate and timely fashionRotates food and beverage products by practicing first in and first out proceduresChecks I.D. on any guests ordering alcohol who look under 30 years old. Legal drinking age is 19 years oldMay occasionally be asked to train new staffFollowing established guidelines, takes initiative on work to be doneNotifies manager / asst. manager of out-of-stock itemsBe prepared to begin work at scheduled timeMaintain uniform and personal grooming in compliance with appearance standardsOther duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor on dutyRequirements & Qualifications :
O.S.S.D. or equivalent as recognized by the Ministry of EducationOne (1) year experience in high volume restaurant requiredSmart Serve Certification requiredEnergetic and enthusiastic personality essentialMust be able to effectively understand and convey written and verbal information to guests and coworkersMust possess a service orientation – actively looking for ways to help othersBasic computer skills are requiredWill work for extended periods without sittingAbility to reach, bend, stoop, wipe, push, pull, move or lift up to 40 lbs (18 kgs)Required to lift furniture and other heavy items such as dishes up and down stairsWill be required to be available for work on all major holidaysNon-slip footwear is required to ensure safety in the workplace.
