Job Description
Altis Recruitment is seeking a Human Resources Specialist for our client, a non-profit on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Office Operations Manager, the successful incumbent will oversee various HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, policy development, and employee engagement initiatives.
PLEASE NOTE : This role is hybrid, 2-3 days a week in Toronto office.
Roles and Responsibilities
Recruitment and Selection :
- Liaise with recruitment firms to fill vacancies, focusing on roles critical to organizational success.
- Conduct initial screening of resumes and participate in screening calls, testing, and interviews.
- Coordinate reference checks and facilitate the offer presentation and onboarding process.
HR Policies and Procedures :
- Communicate HR policies and procedures to employees and address related inquiries.
- Support the review, development, and implementation of HR policies to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
Performance Management and Training :
- Provide guidance on performance evaluation and management, including feedback and progressive discipline.
- Facilitate ongoing feedback and performance reviews, and assist with rewards and recognition programs.
Maintain Employee Records :
- Manage employee files, including performance reviews and training records.
- Update job descriptions and oversee data management in HR systems.
- Assist with employee timesheets and terminations.
Health, Safety, Wellness, and Engagement :
- Participate in the Joint Health and Safety Committee and contribute to employee wellness initiatives.
- Support the development of a respectful and inclusive work environment.
- Assess employee satisfaction and implement initiatives to enhance engagement.
Office Condo Board Representation :
Represent organization on the condo Board of Directors to ensure professional management of office facilities.
Qualifications and Skills
- 3-5 years of HR experience.
- Thorough knowledge of HR management principles and best practices.
- Demonstrated HR generalist experience preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Windows environment, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and databases.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resource Management.
- CHRP or CHRL designation required.
