MATRIX is currently seeking experienced Journeyperson Welders who are team oriented, motivated, with a high attention to detail.
You will play a key role at one of our remote camps by supporting the team to complete the welding fabrication and assembly of a remote camp.
This position reports to the Mechanical Manager. *This position will be a fly in fly out position, based on site with the project team.
Responsibilities :
- Inspecting, troubleshooting, fabricating, assembling / installing, and repairing mobile & heavy equipment.
- Manual welding, flame-cutting, brazing and soldering, shaping, ARC and GAS welding.
- Daily equipment inspections and ensuring proper maintenance and repairs are completed.
- Responsible for ordering parts and materials needed.
- Preparation and site clean-up, including rubbish removal.
- Assist in the completion of all necessary documentation as per process / protocol to ensure cost effectiveness and budget allocation.
- Provide quality workmanship consistent with industry standards and stakeholder expectations.
- Understand the basics of reading and interpreting blueprints.
- Participate in daily Toolbox meetings and support monthly work-site inspections.
- Perform tasks according to safe work practices and safe job procedures.
- Notify Manager of unsafe practices and unsafe environment.
- Report all incidents and accidents immediately.
- Actively participate as a high performing, team member.
Requirements
Required Knowledge & Experience
- Minimum of one (3) years working in a field construction and / or camp setting.
- Certified Journeyman Welder (Red Seal)
- Solid verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work a rotation schedule.
- Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
- Physically able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Ability to maintain a high level of performance over a 10 - 12 hour shift.
Preferred Licensing & Certifications
- WHIMS Certification.
- Previous experience working in remote camp setting.
- Proficient in ALL aspects of welding / fabrication repair and replacement.
