Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, the Senior Counsel will support our operational teams with a broad range of responsibilities to help support and grow the business.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of industry-specific and general commercial contracts between project participants
  • Working closely with other internal professionals including finance, safety, real property, regulatory and procurement teams
  • Guiding operational management through various forms of dispute resolution, including litigation
  • Taking the lead on internal training sessions to ensure the various teams throughout GIP are aware of best practices
  • Assisting the legal team when GIP is involved in M&A transactions

Position Requirements :

  • Licensed practitioner in the province of Ontario (called to the Ontario bar since at least 2019).
  • Strong general commercial practice with a desire to learn and grow with our business partners.
  • Experience in Construction / Infrastructure Law would be an asset.
  • Results-driven with an ability to deliver success in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills - bilingualism (English and French) would be an asset.
  • Experience in the construction / civil engineering industry preferred.
  • Outcome focused, critical thinker with the ability to analyse and visualize to ensure continuous improvement across our business.
  • Ability to connect and interact with people to seek different perspectives.
  • Strong ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Demonstrate versatility and resourcefulness in overcoming business challenges.
