Senior Counsel, Legal
Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, the Senior Counsel will support our operational teams with a broad range of responsibilities to help support and grow the business.
Key Responsibilities :
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of industry-specific and general commercial contracts between project participants
- Working closely with other internal professionals including finance, safety, real property, regulatory and procurement teams
- Guiding operational management through various forms of dispute resolution, including litigation
- Taking the lead on internal training sessions to ensure the various teams throughout GIP are aware of best practices
- Assisting the legal team when GIP is involved in M&A transactions
Position Requirements :
- Licensed practitioner in the province of Ontario (called to the Ontario bar since at least 2019).
- Strong general commercial practice with a desire to learn and grow with our business partners.
- Experience in Construction / Infrastructure Law would be an asset.
- Results-driven with an ability to deliver success in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills - bilingualism (English and French) would be an asset.
- Experience in the construction / civil engineering industry preferred.
- Outcome focused, critical thinker with the ability to analyse and visualize to ensure continuous improvement across our business.
- Ability to connect and interact with people to seek different perspectives.
- Strong ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple competing priorities.
- Demonstrate versatility and resourcefulness in overcoming business challenges.
