Scope
In support of the IT Operations Team and within the City's IT Department, this position is responsible for providing technical expertise in the management of networks including but not limited to testing, analyzing, installing, maintaining and supporting networks.
Responsibilities
- Designs, installs, tests, monitors, maintains, and operates critical technology and networks including wireless and VoIP
- Maintains LAN / WAN / wireless / VoIP / cloud operations by working with network facility and hardware / software vendors to ensure timely problem resolution
- Maintains and uses network management applications to identify network faults, to ensure the provision of data or other telecommunications access to customers, and the movement of information from one location to the other
- Proactively monitors networks to provide stable, dependable network services across multiple platforms
- Investigates the physical space requirements for equipment
- Plans capacity and configures and troubleshoots computer networks
- Performs corrective actions when necessary
- Liaises with management to meet client needs
- Works with architects, consultants, and vendors to build and implement solutions
- Acts as a resource for project work
- Other job-related duties as required. Qualifications
A qualified applicant will have :
- Completion of degree in a related field from a recognized institution
- Two years related experience or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with SIP and QOS in relation to VoIP implementations preferred.
- Experience with teleconference and collaboration technologies such as Microsoft Teams would be an asset.
The Network Analyst 2 will have very good knowledge and experience with most of the following :
- High availability data centre switching
- Networking and connectivity to cloud service providers, IP routing using OSPG and BGP and Site-to-site (S2S) and client access VPNs using IPSec and SSL
- Service provider connectivity using Fibre, Ethernet, MPLS, and VPLS
- Network Access Control and network security
- Firewall policies, content filtering, intrusion protection, and address translation
- Voice and multimedia systems, media signaling, and border controllers
- Network Quality of Servers (QOS) Other Information
