JOB SUMMARY

We are currently seeking a Yard Attendant to work at the Buck Auto Parts Winnipeg location operated by EVRAZ North America.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Yard Attendant will be responsible for vehicle processing and draining appropriate fluids from cars, and removing good sets of rims.

All processors rotate through pre-processing, processing (tanking), tire shop, and yard maintenance.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare vehicles for processing by removing garbage, batteries, mercury switches
• Drain appropriate automobile fluids (gasoline, antifreeze, etc.) to assist with the processing of vehicles
• Remove automobile parts : the catalytic converter
• Take off tires and remove valve stems and wheel weights from rims, stack and load tires and other parts into shipping containers
• Assist with site maintenance (parts yard, production area, office and parking lot)
• collect and remove all non-ferrous items from vehicles prior to crush
• Observe and follow all safety rules and regulations

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• No experience necessary but previous work experience in a manufacturing, production, or similar scrapyard / auto part environment will be considered an asset
• Knowledge of automotive components is a definite asset
• Able to meet the physical demands of the position including standing, walking, sitting, climbing, crawling, kneeling, bending, lifting at least 50lbs, and pushing and pulling

• Willing and able to work in variable weather conditions including hot, dry summer conditions and cold, harsh winter conditions
• Organized and able to prioritize competing priorities
• Strong communication skills communicates clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, and over mobile radio devices
• Safety oriented and willing to follow all site safety procedures
• Mechanically inclined
• Mentally alert to surroundings
• Self-motivated : Initiates and takes action before being required to do so
• Strong work ethic : uses time efficiently, work safely and making sure everyone around him / her are working safely
