What is the Opportunity :
As a Specialist, Payroll Unions, reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, you will play a key role in supporting the union payroll team. Your expertise will ensure accurate payments and comprehensive reporting for Aecon and its union partners, contributing to smooth payroll operations. Please note, this is an 18-month contract opportunity.
What You’ll Do Here :
Respond to inquiries from Corporate, Work Sites, HR, Vendors and AuditAct as a subject matter expert to answer questions, research, and provide support to the HCM & Payroll teamRemit and reconcile union payments and burdens with accuracy and in a timely mannerReview and reconcile union statements on a monthly basisEnsure accuracy of union retro calculationsSet up and test new Union rates and benefits as per Collective Bargaining AgreementsMaintain and test Union Rate ChangesLiaise with Unions and Government AgenciesResearch and respond to third party audit inquiries in a timely mannerSupport new company set ups and ensure the system is configured accurately as per the collective agreementsFoster a continuous improvement mindset by recognizing and initiating process improvementsProvide second-level support on escalation of customer service and vendor related service issues.Work on projects as requiredWhat You Bring to the Team :
Post secondary education in an Accounting related fieldCompletion or working towards NPIpayroll designation preferred3+ years experience working in a unionized payroll environmentDemonstrated ability to work in SAP HCM & PayrollAdvanced proficiency in Excel and Business ObjectsExceptional multi-tasking skills and able to work accurately under tight time constraintsThorough working knowledge and experience with Trade Unions is requiredPossess a high attention to detail, accuracy, and data integrityTechnical systems skills, as relates to payroll / HR, with third party payroll providers and HR / Payroll systemsStrong communication skills and organizational skillsDemonstrated ability to multi-task, probe, analyze, and solve complex problemsAecon fosters diversity, inclusion and belonging within and across our organization.
