Compensation

The estimated hourly base pay rate for this position is $25.75. This position is entitled to a $2.50 shift premium per hour. This position may also be eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP). AIP amounts are variable and are dependent on both company and team performance, subject to eligibility criteria. The target bonus percentage for this role is 4% of annual base earnings.

Work Schedule

Weekend Shift: Friday – Sunday; 6:00 am - 6:00 pm (36 hrs per week).

Join Our Team as a Finishing Operator

S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual for our metal-enclosed switchgear finishing function. As a Finishing Operator, you will be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. You will work in a production environment, engage in continuous productive activity and must meet requirements within predetermined time constraints. Tasks require the use of both hands and arms on a repetitive basis for a full range of motion.

Key Responsibilities

• Chipping of parts prior to loading
• Hand cleaning and surface preparation of parts prior to loading
• Load parts with proper tagging
• Unload different parts to crats/skids related to the same job
• Record all data on the appropriate sheet/tablet
• Apply Aquaban (Anti-Condensation Coating) to parts that require it
• Select the route for parts to follow
• Select the paint colour for the parts to be painted
• Maintain your workstation in a clean, well-ordered fashion at all times - floor swept
• Ensure that garbage is emptied and the floor is free of debris prior to the end of the shift

What You’ll Need To Succeed

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1 year of experience in manufacturing
• Good knowledge of Cranes, Walkies and pneumatic grinders
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics and follow written or verbal instructions
• Attention to detail and quality
• Excellent organization and problem-solving skills
• Team player and good communication skills
• Prior powder painting experience will be considered as an asset

Physical Demands

• Standing: All tasks are performed in a standing position with intermittent walking
• Lifting: Frequent lifting of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs to 20 lbs
• Walking: Occasional walking moderate distances (less than 1km)
• Carrying: Frequent carrying of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs to 20 lbs
• Pushing: Occasional pushing of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs
• Pulling: Occasional pulling of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs
• Bending: Frequent bending and crouching to safely lift parts of various sizes and shapes
• Reaching: Continuous full range of motion from above the shoulders to below the knees
• Handling: Continuous handling of parts ranging in weight from 5 lbs to 20 lbs
