Scope

The Engineering Inspector 1 provides assistance to inspectors under the direction of a senior inspector in the monitoring, inspection and administration of numerous Land Development projects.

The Engineering Inspector 1 ensures that Land Development related work is completed in accordance with City standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior supervisory staff to monitor, inspect and administer Land Development projects to ensure that construction is performed to the City standards, policies, by-laws and the servicing agreement.
  • Prepare inspection reports and maintenance of records pertaining to the status of projects.
  • Monitor safety and traffic control on construction sites.
  • Witness and approve connections (sanitary, water, drainage) to the City infrastructure.
  • Maintain good public relations and ensure minimum inconvenience to the public.
  • Receive and address complaints and concerns of the public.
  • Review and recommend on acceptance of asphalt, concrete and soils testing reports and prepare estimates.
  • Communicate with developers, consultants, contractors and agencies on the progress and quality of work.
  • Work independently with minimal direction from Senior Inspectors.
  • Performs related duties as required. Qualifications
  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent, supplemented by courses and technical training in Public Works Inspection, Soil Mechanics I, Asphalt Technology and Concrete Technology,
  • Eligibility for certification by ASTTBC (Applied Science Technologists & Technicians of BC) as a Certified Public Works Inspector Level 1 (CPWI 1).
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • A valid BC Driver's License with a safe driving record is required. Other Information
