Legal Assistant (Labor and Employment Law)

We are looking for a legal assistant specialized in labor and employment law for a 12-month maternity leave replacement, on behalf of our client, a recognized law firm.

Responsibilities :

  • Proactively support professionals in managing and following up on their cases.
  • Coordinate schedules and ensure necessary follow-ups for appointments, meetings, hearings, events, and committees.
  • Ensure deadlines are met, and follow up on client files and deliverables.
  • Make reminders and follow-ups with current and potential clients in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Prepare required documentation for various planned events.
  • Transcribe dictations, proofread, and correct documents.
  • Manage file openings and billing.
  • Prepare expense allocations.
  • Perform other administrative tasks as needed.

What you will need to succeed :

  • Degree in secretarial studies, legal secretarial studies, or equivalent training.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in legal secretarial work, ideally in labor and employment law.
  • Bilingual in English and French (spoken and written) to assist lawyers in both languages.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, especially Word (intermediate / advanced level), Outlook, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with Maître and iManage Work 10 software (an asset).
  • Excellent client orientation, courtesy, and professionalism.
  • Responsibility, attention to detail, and good organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple files simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
  • Team spirit and a sense of initiative.
