Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
About The Role
Westinghouse Electric Canada Inc is a leading supplier of custom equipment, process systems and engineering consultant services for the nuclear industry in Canada. You will join an innovative team that supports Westinghouse's mission to provide clean energy solutions. Specifically, as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will develop 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings and bills of materials for complex electro‑mechanical first of a kind tooling. You will report to the Robotic Tooling Design Manager and be located at our Kitchener, Ontario office. This position will be offered as a hybrid role with the expectation of working onsite at our Kitchener, Ontario office 2 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings and bills of materials for complex electro‑mechanical first of a kind tooling
- Assembly and testing of custom equipment through the design evolution from prototype to finished product
- Help develop test procedures for systems to ensure compliance with design specifications
- Help operate the final tooling system in the customer facilities
- Provide technical oversight and mentoring of more junior members of the Engineering team
- Perform both classical hand calculations and analysis (including FEA) to qualify systems and / or components against applicable codes & standards
- Prepare clear and concise design reports and technical specifications
- Drive innovation and new methods in the development of new technologies and nuclear systems
- Collaborate globally within the Westinghouse Engineering framework alongside SMEs and nuclear specialists
- Support resolution of issues throughout design, manufacture and testing of systems and / or components
Qualifications
Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited Canadian institution5+ years of relevant experienceExperience in conceptual design development, design reviews and engineering change control processesExperience in the design / building of custom equipment typically : robotics, electro‑mechanical systemsExperience working within 3D CAD systemsExperience with manufacturing techniques, welding procedures or specifications and associated inspection techniquesComfortable leading meetings and giving presentationsExperience working in a team environmentBenefits

Base salary range for this position is estimated to be $86,800 to $108,500 per year.
