Responsibilities :

The Rehabilitation Centre for Children (RCC) at SSCY Centre is a community-based health care facility providing services to children with special needs and their families.

The Rehabilitation Centre for Children requires a Jordan’s Principle Nurse Clinician (N3) to support children with medical complexity and their families who live in remote and northern Manitoba First Nation communities by working from a strengths-based perspective with communities to coordinate care and appointments.

The Nurse Clinician’s approach will align with Organizational Values and commitment to the principles that guide the

Rehabilitation Centre for Children, as reflected in the history, vision, mission and values, and a commitment to Reconciliation knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture and traditions and the impact of colonization on the health and well-being of Indigenous individuals and families.

The incumbent will ensure communication with community staff to promote efficient and equitable access to care. This position will function as a pivotal member of multidisciplinary teams.

The Nurse Clinician acts as a resource person to other healthcare professionals and to the community. The incumbent utilizes advanced skills and knowledge and performs at a high level of independence as a clinical practitioner, leader, consultant, and educator.

Practices are in accordance with RCC policy and professional standards.

This includes :

  • Collaboration with all communities, healthcare providers, partners, and community agencies, who are involved with the child,
  • Ongoing liaison with the child's family and caregivers, community service navigators, speciality teams in Winnipeg to consolidate in person follow up and share information with families and care teams,
  • Coordination of appointments / investigations that are recommended and follow up when issues such as travel or relocation interfere with the families’ ability to attend appointments,
  • Participation in continuous quality improvement, research, client, and staff education initiatives

Experience :

Minimum three (3) years recent clinical experience in relevant nursing specialty required. Experience working with children with medical complexities such as cerebral palsy, neurological and neuromuscular conditions is required.

Experience in working in a community setting with individuals with developmental and physical disabilities / dual diagnosis, is an asset.

  • Experience in adult education and resource development is preferred.
  • Experience working in First Nations Communities is preferred.
  • Education, License & Registration :
  • Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing education program required.
  • Bachelor of Nursing Degree preferred.
  • Successful completion of a relevant post-basic program may be required or preferred in a designated area.
  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with College of
  • Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) required.
  • Active participation in professional associations e.g., Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the applicable policy.
  • Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).

  • Proficient in applicable digital technology application, electronic medical record platforms and in Microsoft Office, including Word, Teams and Power
  • Point and / or other presentation software required.
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort required.
  • Occasional travel to First Nations Communities, community agencies, patient homes and / or other healthcare institutions.
