Position
The Marketing Department at IGM Financial (including IG Wealth Management and Mackenzie Investments) is currently accepting applications for the position of Communications Specialist, reporting to the Director of Communications.
As part of the national Corporate Communications team, you will help develop and implement strategic communications for IGM Financial, including both IG Wealth Management and Mackenzie Investments.
The successful candidate will also contribute to the editorial direction of the team and will use their superior writing skills to draft and edit content for a range of external and internal (advisor focused) audiences.
The successful candidate’s primary responsibilities will include :
Media Relations
Contribute to IGM Financials’ ongoing media relations campaign by developing interesting and creative pitch angles, drafting media materials, liaising with target editors / journalists to develop and strengthen relationships.
Work with media outlets and journalists to secure interview opportunities for IGM / IG / Mackenzie spokespeople.
The individual will also be part of the group’s social media team and assist in the creation of content.
Engage with business leaders confidently.
Work closely with the external PR agency team.
Writing and Editing
Create content and manage approvals for a variety of external materials including press releases, media pitches, social media posts, speaking notes and video scripts.
Support IG advisor communications needs through the development of advisor focused articles and emails, intranet content materials for web conferences, designed collateral, and web pages.
Manage content delivery, including translation, design, digital and multimedia requirements as needed.
Create, monitor, and report on metrics.
Project Management
Work with the members of the team to ensure campaigns / plans are moving forward in a timely manner and are addressing the needs of stakeholders.
Assist with the layout and review process for daily communications cycle.
Monitor, collect and share analytics as needed.
The following qualifications will assist the successful candidate in carrying out these responsibilities :
2-4 years’ experience in a corporate communications or PR agency environment. Direct experience within the financial services industry considered an asset.
Strong and versatile writer who can balance corporate tone with attention-grabbing storytelling, strong editing skills and an eye for detail and accuracy.
Experience implementing communications campaigns for external and internal audiences.
A strong understanding of media relations and integrated PR campaigns.
Demonstrated interest in communications industry best practices.
Expertise in social media strategy and drafting content for different platforms (e.g. LinkedIn, X, etc.).
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects within tight deadlines.
Established relationships with a wide cross-section of journalists.
Superior Excel and PowerPoint skills.
Experience using Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe Analytics considered an asset.
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Communications or Public Relations.
Bilingual in English and French considered an asset.
