Job Purpose

SECURE is currently in search of Torch / Yard Labourer based out of our Peace River Metals Recycling facility. The role is responsible for performing general duties in the fabrication and Non Ferrous metals shop, including operating basic hand tools, assisting machine operators and welders, material handling and general housekeeping to maintain a clean work site.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to :

• Use and operate the welding equipment to assist in refurbishing SECURE’s bins and containers
• General welders helper duties such as grinding, buffing and weld set up
• Assist welders in completing their assigned tasks
• Working in Non-Ferrous shop (loading, unloading, sorting, cutting, packaging, labeling, and cleaning material).
• Complete general housekeeping and organizing of the yard and facilities
• Partake in all safety related meetings including : daily tail gates, last minute risk assessment, etc.
• Other duties and project-based work, as required

Qualifications / Competencies

The individual in this role will have :

• 3 years' of previous Scrap / Torch Cutting experience is preferred.
• Experience with liquid oxygen, propane and metallurgy would be considered an asset.
• Safely and correctly use and maintain tools and equipment.
• Able to operate skid steers, lifts, forklifts and other small equipment.
• Competent and safe use of hand tools and power equipment
• Ability to perform physical tasks including manual labor tasks, moving containers, and other heavy materials.
• Ability to follow SECURE’s Workplace Health and Safety requirements relevant to the assigned work site
• Completes tasks with a sense of urgency while delivering safe and accurate results
• Fit-for-work each day
