The Headlines :

In the role of Environmental and Sustainability Engineer working in Toronto, ON , you will be part of the Technical Services Department .

You will lead local execution of environmental aspects of the Environmental, Health, and Safety Strategy and drive day-to-day environmental compliance at the Toronto Brewery with technical support other facilities in Ontario.

You will collaborate and interface with internal and external stakeholders to obtain and maintain necessary permits, understand impacts of pending regulation, and enhance Molson Coors community reputation.

You will coach others to drive plant engagement in environmental and regulatory compliance.

This position reports to the Director of Technical Services and works closely with all groups in the brewery and corporate office.

The Responsibilities :

  • Ensure compliance with applicable environmental acts and regulations including Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA) and regulatory codes and standards.
  • Maintain and enhance environmental permits and programs including Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Plan, Stormwater Pollution Prevention and Permit Compliance, Hazardous Materials Transportation and Radiation Safety Program, and Sewer water surcharge application.
  • Manage provincial and federal environmental reporting such as Greenhosue Gas (GHG) report, National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI), Single Window information Management (SWIM), Hazardous Waste Reporting (HWIN), Emission Dispersion and Summary Modelling (EDSM), and Wastewater reporting.
  • Facilitate environmental incident investigations.
  • Monitor progress of environmental improvement programs.
  • Assess the existing or potential environmental impact of engineering projects on air, water, and waste.
  • Identify and collaborate on environmental, energy saving, and renewable energy projects.
  • Develop, implement, and manage plans / programs related to recycling and zero waster to landfill program.
  • Support key safety programs such as ammonia process safety management / risk management, flammable and combustible substance and equipment risk assessment, asbestos management, and emergency response.
  • Coach operational teams on improving environmental performance.
  • Lead active environmental related teams and engagement activities.

The Other Qualifications :

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science or related technical degree
  • You have at least 5 years of work experience in an environmental field in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience with implementing water and energy reduction and waste / recycling programs
  • Advanced familiarity with federal and state environmental rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of Energy Star, LEED, WELL and PassiveHouse certification systems is an asset
  • LEED AP BD+C accreditation is an asset.
  • Ability to lead volunteer and mandated team efforts
  • Proficient in the use of incident investigation and problem-solving methodologies
  • Ability to analyze data, recognize business impact and communicate trend
