We are seeking a

Senior Mainframe Developer

with

7 10 years of hands-on experience

in developing and supporting enterprise mainframe applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in

COBOL, DB2, and VSAM , with experience in

batch and online / transaction processing

environments. This is a

6-month contract

About the Role

As a Senior Mainframe Developer, you will design, develop, test, and maintain critical mainframe applications supporting large-scale enterprise systems. You will collaborate with business and technical teams to deliver stable, high-performing solutions and support modernization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications using

COBOL, DB2, and VSAM

Convert business requirements into scalable and efficient technical solutions

Perform

DB2 performance tuning , query optimization, and access path analysis

Work on both

batch processing

and

online transaction processing

Partner with Business Analysts, QA, and development teams to ensure on-time delivery

Provide

production support , troubleshooting, and

root cause analysis

Maintain technical documentation including program logic, changes, and workflows

Participate in

code reviews , enforce coding standards, and ensure best practices

Support

mainframe modernization, migration, and integration

initiatives

Required Skills & Qualifications

7 10 years

of mainframe development experience

Strong expertise in

COBOL,2, and VSAM

Good understanding of

JCL, CICS , and

IMS

(IMS preferred, not mandatory)

Experience in

batch and transaction processing systems

Strong skills in

SQL , DB2 database design, and performance tuning

Experience with mainframe utilities :

IDCAMS, SORT, File-Aid, Expeditor

Understanding of

SDLC

and

Agile methodologies

Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving abilities

Excellent communication and collaboration skills
