A Culture of Inclusion and Belonging
We welcome the unique contribution that you will bring to TVO. We have a diverse workforce and are committed to building a culture within the workplace that brings out the best in everyone. As part of our strategic vision, we have adopted five core values; we embrace change, we value bold thinking, we thrive with diverse voices, we are better together, and we honour our commitments. The Opportunity
You’re the ideal candidate for the TVO digital producer position if you crave the opportunity to produce innovative digital content and have a demonstrated flair for taking creative approaches to digital explainer style information. You know how to produce fact-based content for YouTube and social platforms that is highly engaging and informative. You are a bit of a nerd when it comes to news and current affairs. You would fit right in with a team that loves to break down issues in the news that matter to Ontarians - everything from housing affordability to trade wars or why youth unemployment is so high.
You are creative, curious, and committed. Oh, and you love to collaborate.
A week in the life of this role will involve a wide range of tasks and responsibilities. You will bring your strong editorial sense and be comfortable working at a fast clip to pitch and produce weekly digital explainer content. Your editorial understanding of political and current affairs topics will be used every day in your role. You will also be involved in decisions, with the team, about posting and engagement for that content on YouTube and social platforms. The content you create will sometimes be used for broadcast as well, so your experience and understanding of that platform will be important to the role. We recommend checking out Unravelled, one of TVO’s digital video series, to get a feel for the tone, craft, and storytelling style behind our work.
You will also be involved in podcast content. In that role you will be involved in researching and producing content for fact-based podcast series.
Along with pitching, producing, researching, and writing you will have the opportunity to do on-camera reporting, editing, and some video camera work.
This role requires a producer with initiative, independent judgment, and creativity who has a deep understanding and experience with the guiding principles of journalism standards and practices.
