We’re looking for a Lower School and Preschool Music Teacher LTO starting in September . You’ll be reporting to both our Preschool Director and Head of Lower School and Preschool and working collaboratively with our Lower School and Preschool faculty and staff to deliver an exceptional educational music programme to our youngest learners.

• Teaching music education to Lower School and preschool aged students to help them grow in their enjoyment, appreciation and performance of music through a variety of music experiences including singing, moving to music, listening and participating in school performances;
• Preparing, developing and implementing engaging music lesson plans for Lower School and preschool aged students that build knowledge through exploratory and experimental learning;
• Planning and conducting musical activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, investigate and solidify grade appropriate concepts;
• Helping support Bayview Glen’s choir programme (as an accompanist) as well as Lower School concerts and musicals;
• Using a variety of teaching strategies and instructional materials to meet the diverse learning needs of students;
• Observing and evaluating each student’s performance, behavior, social development, and physical health;
• Promoting a classroom environment dedicated to the BVG Whole Child, Whole Life and Whole World educational philosophy.

What You’ll Need :

• An undergraduate degree in music education or child development, or related field from an accredited college or university;
• A degree or diploma in Early Childhood Education or OCT qualifications;
• 2+ years of successful music teaching experience with children as young as 2 years old;
• Ability to utilize a vast variety of musical accompaniments such as piano (RCM Level 6 minimum), guitar, technology and voice in your teachings;
• Experience teaching Kindermusik, Orff-Schulwerk, or Kodály would be an asset;
• A love of children and music;
• Ability to create a warm and inviting learning environment that supports the needs of different learning styles;
• Inspiring a love of music in preschool-aged students with an amazing attitude and ability to be patient, understanding, and enthusiastic;
• The desire to build a long-term relationship with your students and with our community;
• Knowledge of How Does Learning Happen and the Child Care and Early Years Act;
• Familiarity with the Reggio Emilia philosophy considered an asset;
• Willingness and enthusiasm towards participating in the co-curricular program and school community;
• Valid child and infant First Aid / CPR certification;
• Up to date Immunizations and new TB results.
